Inter School Swimming Gala
The annual inter-school swimming gala took place at the Kowloon Park Swimming Pool on 18th October. The swimmers, as well as the cheering team of every school were well-prepared to show off their talents. At about eight-thirty, while our swimmers were warmong up, all of the cheering team members had arrived and began to march into the pool complex. The St. Joseph's cheering team, full of school spirit, was beyond doubt the most exuberant and organised one.
The comoetition officially commenced at about nine. Our well trained swimmers managed to obtain satisfactory results in the heat. Until the end of the morning session, we were able to keep in line with the leading team, Diocesan Boys' School.
All Josephians were excited with the outstanding performance of our swimmers. We could hear support of other school's cheering team. Some were loud but inconsistent; some showed variety but lacked perseverance. Our cheering team was the only one that demonstrated consistency, co-operation and confidence. At the same time, our two school flags were fluttering in the air to the rhythm of our slogans!
After the lunch-break the tough and challenging competition continued. Our cheering team broke the silence in the pool with this remarkable slogan "SJC, SJC, ......" and our impressive school rally. While we strengthened our supprt, we remembered our school rally "Forward nor flinch nor fear" and continued to strive hard till the end of the competition.
This year, we again captured the first runner-up of the overall swimming competition, Our fellow swimmers had already done their very best and a few records had been broken by our team. Of course, the continuos supprt from our principal Brother Thomas and numerous teachers contributed a lot to our success. Thanks should also be given to the Students' Union, the cheering team and the executive committee of the Unions of the pervious years and our fellow cheering team schoolmates. Without them, we should not able to achieve such glamorous results. We believe that our school will do even better in the future years.
