On February 1, the Green & White Walkathon 1997 was held. As in the previous years, the aim of the Walkathon was to raise money for the school magazine. Registration began at 7:30 a.m. Each walker was given a checkpoint list to mark the number of checkpoints he reached. The opening ceremony commenced at 8:30 a.m. After a short speech by Rev. Bro. Thomas, the ribbon-cutting ceremony which marked the start of the walkathon was held. The weather was cool and dry. Participants, while enjoing the spectacular scenery and fresh air, talked with each other or listened to their favorite music as they walked along the route around the Aberdeen Reservoir. Participants were provided with refreshments along the route. Students who got tired could take a rest and quench their thirst at the refreshment counters. The amount raised this year was a new record. A holiday was granted to students in recognition of their hard work and support to the school.
