Web Site Nets Design Award (cont'd)
"The Web site allows us to learn more about our counterparts in lower forms."
Students who took part also learned many new skills.
Shiu-cheung said organisation and carefully dividing up tasks among team-members were essential to getting the project finished.
Colleague Johnny Wong Chit said: "It is valuable to make use of our computer knowledge to spread news about the school to those old boys in overseas countries.
"With the Web site, the former graduates can keep in touch with the school's latest developments."
Simon Lam Yee-kwun, a Form 6 student, said: "The idea of establishing a school Web site came when we found the unfinished homepage written by some old boys.
Form 2 student Nigel Lee Chi-chung said: "As we had not had any training in writing a homepage, we had to read a lot of books."
The group realised they knew little about graphic design.
"After finishing the homepage, we had all learned to scan pictures and put special effects on pictures," Chi-chung said.
Colleague Alexander Sze Shun-fung said: "Some knowledge of copyright was also essential when we had to choose original materials for the homepage."
Team-members are offering fellow students a summer holiday training course on how to update information on the homepage.
