This year the Student's Union organised a new function for the Josephians-Games
Week-from 4th to 7th November. The Games Week was quite a novel idea for
the Josephians. For the first time, form one and two students could play
group games together in the school yard during lunch. The function aimed
at promoting a sense of co-operation among the students and, hopefully,
adding colour ro their school lives.
The first game held on Monday was Bingo. It was a game
to all forms of students. On that day, over 200 students camr to the school
yard to take part in the game. All the students concentrated on their Bingo
tickets as they feared that they might miss out a single number.
The game reached its climax when about 14 numbers were drawn. Many students
were about to win and they screamed out their lucky numbers. At last, over
30 students won in the game and some luckier students even won twice. The
winners all recieved spectacular prizes, and some even got amusing prizes
such as bananas and toilet rolls. At the end of lunch time the Bingo game
finished in a delightful atmosphere.
On Tuesday, a group game called JUMP! was held. The master of the ceremony
called out the names of different places in Hong Kong and the participants
had to jump to the corresponding areas representing Hong Kong, Kowloon
and the New Territories in the parade. Some students lost the game
when they mixed up places such as the Repulse Bay and
the Clear Water Bay. Others lost the game as they were too slow to react.
In the end, two students from Form 1D and 1F won the game and scored marks
for their own classes. Just after that, another group game, Guess Without
Words, was held.
The group members had to convey messages with body language. Each message
was a kind of sport. The last member had to guess what the sport was. Most
of the groups did very well in the game. There were funny moments when
the body languages misled the participants. Some even misinterpreted finishing
as tea-making. On the whole, all students enjoy the games very much, and
they had a good time irrespective of winning and losing.
