On March 9, 1997, the Academic Prize Giving Day was held to felicitate hard-working Josephians who had achieved commendable results during the Half-Yearly Examinations.
After Rev. Bro. Thomas and our Guests-of-Honour, Prof. William Wei, Vice-chairman of Parent Teacher Association 96-97, Mr. Jimmy Ho, Representative of Class 1972, Mr. Charles Surya, Representative of Pan Sui-pang Memorial Scholarship had entered the hall, Rev. Bro. Thomas gave a warm welcome to the audience, praising both parents and teachers for being archetypes of excellent educators. Professor Wei, one of the Guests-of-Honour also addressed the audience with an encouaging speech, adulating both parents and teachers on their continued effort and dedication in the education of youngsters.
After the speeches, prizes were presented to the outstanding winners, who obtained first to third places in respective subjects of each form. Besides the presentation of prizes, there were performances by our school choir, conducted by Ms. Rita Wong. Also, winners of the 48th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival performed their winning pieces. The ceremony finally ended with the School Rally led by the school choir, which was followed by a refreshment session shortly afterwards.
