 The Beginning of the Beginning

Everything was prepared with much care, just waiting for the final ribbon cut, which would symbolize one of the milestones in St. Joseph's history.

Decoration and planning work had already been completed far before this memorable day. And finally, an impressive Opening Ceremony started the whole day, marking the beginning of another page of St. Joseph's College in the new Millennium.

We were honored to have our Chief Executive of HKSAR, Mr. Tung Chee Hwa; together with Director of Education, Mrs. Fanny Law; as guests to this celebration.

At exactly 11:00am, Mr. Tung and Mrs. Law, were warmly greeted and earnestly welcomed by our principal, Rev. Brother Thomas Favier, the chairman of Old Boys' Association (OBA), Mr. Jeffrey Lam Kin Fung MBE JP, and 24 famous old boys (as listed here) at the reception at the main entrance.

More guests were arranged to be seated in front of the stage, waiting for the Opening Ceremony to commence. Mr. Tung, Mrs. Law, and other school officials seated with Brother Thomas on the stage. Soon the national anthem was boardcasted and everybody stood up, looking at the raising national flag. Brother Thomas then delivered a short speech, gave special thanks for Mr. Tung Chee Hwa, introduced every guest, and recognized the achievements of St. Joseph's.

With the cutting of the ribbon, Open Day 2000 commenced. The whole solemn was capped with a release of colorful balloons - Leaving the sky decorated with pecks of colors.
