Opening Mass vs Dress Casual Day!

Reported By Patrick Leung

As in the past years, the Christian Union organized an opening mass to pray to God, and to bless for the coming year. In this year it was successfully held on the 24th September 1999 in Saint Joseph's Church.

It might be one of the special days in the Josephian History. Boys were all casually-dressed, for it was our "Dress Casual Day" also. Students with this new look look quite amusing.

With the great support of teachers and students from Form One to Three, together with the Christian Union members, all the seats were occupied. Then the mass started at about eleven o'clock in the air of silence. The leading songs by our choir were peaceful and exhilarating. Not only did they sing with a perfect melody but also with the Christian Spirit. The performance was definitely highly appreciated.

Felix Ng, the master of ceremony and one of the readers, said in a low and serious tone. Everybody was then infected by sadness in the ceremony. After the Lord's Prayer, we offered each other the sign of peace and harmony.

The climax came when the priest made his homily. He was actually an old boy of Saint Joseph's; certainly he was so excited for mastering this mass. He said in such a way that those assistants in well-known tutorial classes-smart, fascinating and meaningful. Boys had already enjoyed themselves although it only lasted for about fifteen minutes.

When all the Catholic boys had received their communion, some nice hymns were then performed and ended the on-hour-mass. The whole church was filled with the Christian Spirit and everybody seemed to enjoy this mass.

This years' Opening Mass was a success. By the way, I should say-

"May God take care of SJC in the foreseeable future!"
