The
ticket selling and promotion was a piece of cake.
750
tickets sold out within the first hour of public release.
That
was the attraction of the ITQ 2000.
Hopes
and expectations were riding high.
Yet
no one managed to file in a word of complaint after the show.
The
ITQ abbreviated for Internal Talent Quest has been held for 15
years in St. Joseph's College. Each year, hundreds of students
flock from different schools to enjoy this famous music show.
This
year, the ITQ 2000 was held on the 25th of March.
That
very night, the lights dimmed out and the show started at
7:00.
The
show was kicked off by a series of group dances by the 12
finalists. The energetic dances were well received by the
audiences and by the time the confetti exploded right in front
of the stage, the audiences knew they were in for a show of a
lifetime.
The
show was taken to another climax as our first guest artist
Joey Yung was introduced. She was overwhelmed by welcoming
screams and claps from the ebullient audience. The whole hall
was lighted up by the different colors of neon lights.
After
Joey left the stage, it was time for the finalists to compete.
One by one, they sang their songs and did all they could to
impress both adjudicators and audiences. Apparently, our 3
adjudicators found it difficult to choose a winner as they
were often found discussing among themselves.
Our
second guest artist, Candy Lo also performed her songs to
perfection and was greatly applauded.
By
the time all 12 finalists had finished their performances
Everyone
knew that it was time for our last guest artist to appear.
Mr.
Eason Chan soon appeared on stage and gave his performance,
his friendly personality and great songs overwhelmed the whole
audience and before long screams of encore could be heard
everywhere. Eason did not disappoint us.
The
greatest screams however, were not heard until the
announcement of the results. Much to the expectation of the
crowd, Jacky Li of F.6A was voted champion and most enjoyed
performance. Talent Tsang of and Johnny Wong followed by a
close margin as first and second runners-ups.
The
show drew to an end with Jacky Li singing his winning song
once again, the show was a huge success and the ITQ 2000 would
surely be a example to follow for student musical shows for
years to come.
