The "Summer '99 Music Vibration" organized by St. Joseph's College, was
held in the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wanchai on 7th July. The show was a
singing contest which is similar to the famous "Red & White
Competition" in Japan, which divides boys and girls into different groups.
Over 1,400 tickets were sold and the spectators arrived the stadium at
7:00 p.m. The show started with a violin duet performed by 5 students,
followed by a dance by all the contestants. After that, the MCs, Sammy
Leung and Siu Yee, DJs from Commercial Radio 903 kicked off the show. The
first contestant was our ITQ Champion, Ronald Kwok, who performed his
winning song, "That's Why (You Go Away)". After that, new local singer Jun
Kung (®¥ºÓ¨}), one of the four guest singers performed 2 songs for the
spectators. The competition then went on with both boys and girls singing
brilliantly, and other guest singers Candy Lo (¿c¥©µ), Kelly Chen
(³¯¼zµY) and Mark Lui (¹p¹|¼w) all performed and support from fans of the
singers were incredible. The show went to it's climax when Ivan Wang, the
organizer of the show, performed famous local singer Leon Lai's new song
"Sugar in the Marmalade" with his great dancing skills. Before the winners
were announced, Ivan led all the contestants to sing another song -
"¤@Åܶɫ°" of Aaron Kwok.
The show ended at 11:00 p.m. when the prize winners were announced. The
group of Lorraine, Sandy and Tracey, who performed Kelly Chen's "Lover's
Concerto" came third, while Josephine Chan came second. She performed Faye
Wong's Mandarin song "§ÚÄ@·N". It was the most touching moment when the
champion were announced. The group of Jolie and Yvonne came first and both
of the girls cried as Jolie is going to leave Hong Kong for her further
education soon. The spectators left with great satisfaction after Jolie
and Yvonne performed their winning song.
