To sing in front of a crowd is no easy task. Overcoming the daunt of
standing on the stage, is already the first step to a successful
performance. Given the courage to stand and sing, not everyone can have a
chance to perform with professional audio systems. It is therefore a
Josephian's privilege to participate in the Internal Talent Quest, which
serves as an opportunity for students to develop potentials in showbiz. As
the sole brainchild of the Music Society, there year's show took stage on
27th March. The ITQ used to be a spectacular event, and was no exception
this year.
At 8:00p.m., the lights in the New Hall were dimmed and the ITQ cooked
off. A group medley by thirteen finalists served as the overture, followed
by a warm welcome by the mistress of ceremony. Within minutes, the hall
was overwhelmed with joy as well as excitement and the finalists started
to perform in sequence.
Beyond the contest itself, the guest performance was another section
that enlivened the audience. This year, we were pleased to have Kelly Chen
and Eason Chan as the guest artists. Their presence coloured up much of
the show, as reflected by the continuous cheers and claps throughout their
performances. In addition, performances by the various guest schools were
also well - received. The climax of the night, however, did not come until
the announcement of the results, after the adjudicating panel had strained
to place the winning vote. To the amusement of the audience, Ronald Kwok
of F. 4C eventually emerged as the champion while Wilson Li of F. 5A and
Gordon Cheng followed as first and second runner - ups.
The event came to a finale amid cheers and applause at 11:00p.m. While
this year's show could have generated a warmer response, it nevertheless
turned out to be a good night of entertainment for most of its audience.
